Empowering Communities to Thrive

the

Challenge

Poverty alleviation efforts must shift from enabling dependency through charity and aid, to empowering local communities to lead their own community development by investing in long-term solutions.

our

SOLUTION

Our mission is to end poverty one community at a time by investing in and operating faith-driven, locally-owned, sustainable social enterprises that break cycles of dependency, and restore hope and dignity.

our

Work

Musana believes in empowering local leaders to drive economic and social growth of their own communities through social enterprises that promote education, health, and economic development (skill training and job creation).

Through our Christian values, we spread hope to each person touched by Musana’s community work, sharing the message of Jesus Christ and the love He has for each of us.

our

Mission

We are on a mission to end poverty one community at a time by investing in and operating faith-driven, locally-owned, sustainable social enterprises that break cycles of dependency, and restore hope and dignity.

Meet Elijah

a musana story

Access to quality education changed the entire trajectory of Elijah’s life. From hopelessness during early childhood to the empowered change agent in his community he is today, hear Elijah share his story.

Meet Irene

a musana story

In 2008, Irene’s husband died. Together, they had bought land and built a beautiful home for their five children. When he died, however, Irene had no legal rights to their home and lost everything. She was kicked out of her home and had no means to provide for herself or her children. For years, she struggled to survive. In 2011, Irene came to Musana seeking work. She has been with us ever since, working as lead tailor at Musana Empowerment Center. Since coming to Musana, she has been able to send all of her children to school on her own and in 2016, Irene was able to buy a plot of land and build her family a new home.

Meet Joseph

a musana story

Joseph was one of the original eighty children who inspired the creation of Musana in 2008. It has been a joy to see him grow into the amazing and hardworking man of integrity that he is today. Joseph is now employed as a nurse at Musana Community Hospital. More than anything, he wants to give back to Musana, show others God’s love, and pour love back into his community the was that Musana has loved him throughout his life.
