Okwiisanya Namani: Together We Have Strength (March newsletter)

You treat a disease: you win, you lose.  You treat a person, I guarantee you win-no matter what the outcome. — Patch Adams

In October, we started a new department at Musana Community Health Center: The Rehabilitation and Occupational Therapy Department. We are Team Bukona (February newsletter)

A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.” –Colin Powell

In May 2017, we started our campaign to build the second campus of Musana Nursery and Primary School after turning away hundreds of students at our main campus because of space. Thanks to our incredible Musana family that supported the vision, in late October, we broke ground on the new school in Bukona Village. In just over three months of construction, the school became a reality. On February 11th , the energy around Musana was like no other as our Primary 5 to Primary 7 students moved to the new campus. Now, we can continue to open our gates to additional children and mold more future leaders with the skills and values that Uganda needs. This year, we will have 1,200 students in just our nursery and primary school! We are overflowing with excitement and the feeling of accomplishment. The journey has not been easy, but we did it!

Because of you, WE DID IT… We built a school!

Together, We Built a Hospital (November newsletter)

One year ago, we shared our broken hearts after losing two babies that died because of the complexity of the broken health care system that exists in Uganda. Kauthara and Promise did not have access to a simple blood transfusion that would have saved their lives. After this, we worked hard to put all the necessary things in place to have a health facility that could offer these services. A year later, Musana Community Health Center is licensed to give blood and we have become a referral center for patients that need transfusions across the region! Our services are saving lives daily! Read more on how together we built a hospital.
