WELCOME TO THE PALS PROGRAM!
There are two-million orphans in Uganda that live day by day living without love and without hope. You can't help all of them, so just help one. Help us help others by joining Musana's PALS Program. $40-per-month can really make a difference!
Musana's PALS Program is a unique opportunity to gain a personal relationship with a child at Musana from across the world! It is our version of a sponsorship program. We want to get away from the term 'sponsorship' and 'sponsors' because it goes against Musana's mission. Musana's goal is to eventually be 100% self-sustaining with the farm, café, crafts, etc, in turn teaching the kids and the Iganga community empowerment and independence from foreign aid. However, a sponsorship program completely goes against this ideal. But, where Musana is right now in sustainability, the sponsorship program is the "bread and butter" that is keeping Musana standing. Musana wouldn't survive without you! We need you and well, our kids love you! However, we do want to start instilling in the minds of our children that they are at Musana because of Musana as an organization…. a Ugandan-run organization, not because of their sponsors. In order to do so, we have explained to the kids and will continue to explain to them that their sponsors are people in America that PRAY for them, APPRECIATE them for who they are as individuals, LOVE them, and SUPPORT Musana as a whole. That way the children will not look at their "sponsors" as their rescuers, but at Musana, an organization run by people like them. The kids will have more loyalty towards their house mothers, teachers, and the 45 Ugandans that keep Musana going on a daily basis! As sponsors, your job is to Pray, Appreciate, Love, and Support… you are the PALS of Musana. Our PALS Program is a great way to make a difference in an individual child's life as you welcome them into your family!

What we expect from our PALS:
-
Financial commitment of $40 a month
It costs $80 a month to provide for each child at Musana Children's Home and this number continues to rise. These costs include housing and care, education and school supplies, medical care, food, and maintenance and other unforeseeable costs. Because $80 is a lot to ask, the cost is split into two and each kid will have more than one sponsor. Thus, it costs $40 a month to sponsor a child, or $480 annually. There are two offered methods of payment… Check and credit. You can choose to pay monthly ($40), bi-annually ($240), or annually ($480).
Sponsorship Cost Breakdown (Monthly)
- $30 - Housing and Care
- 10 - Education and School Supplies
- 4 - Medical Care
- 18 - Food
- 18 - miscellaneous
- $80 - Total
- Communication between you and your child
A huge part of our sponsorship program is communication between our sponsors and their child. The kids at Musana have gone through life with no one to love them and no one to love. When they find out that somebody half way around the world cares about them, it brings them hope in life and something to live for. If you could only see the smiles that you bring to their faces! They especially love to see pictures of their new mommies, daddies, brothers, and sisters so be sure to send them your photo! Mail letters to Musana's and we will get them to your child as volunteers go to Iganga Town! You can also dare to send mail directly to Uganda at Musana Children's Home PO Box 35 Iganga, Uganda, East Africa.
We are stopping any individual gifts that "PALS" want to send their kids. Gifts from sponsors have created a mind set among the kids that everything they are given comes from their sponsors in America, not from Musana, and not earned from their hard work in school. With this, they sometimes undermine the authority of Musana's administration, especially the Ugandans, and think everything will be handed to them by their sponsors. Gifts also create jealousy and materialism among the kids, something that we want to avoid if possible. You are of course able to send gifts for ALL the children or necessities helping in Musana's store room like towels, socks, underwear, soccer balls, etc. - Prayer Commitment
Our children pray for their sponsors every single day. As their new parents, we hope that you will be as spiritually committed to them as they are to you!
- Important updates about your child
As things change at Musana, the kids are often affected. I will be sure to let you know about any changes regarding your child if they occur. - Frequent updates about what is going on at Musana
Musana sends out a newsletter every few months that includes an update from Iganga, and how things are going from our side in the States! - Communication from your child
Musana will send some sort of communication from your child three times a year, along with an updated photo. The kids love to write letters to their PALS as they improve their English and their writing abilities. They are also becoming little Leonardo da Vinci's as they learn how to use art supplies. Twice a year you will receive some piece of artwork from them, a letter, and a new picture! - Tax Deductions
Musana is a Colorado non-profit corporation and has been granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS, making your donations tax deductible.
